Blue, Black riders aged ~9-15. The main goal of this program is to help young mountain bikers with descending technical trails with flow and control. We will practice fundamental skills (roll downs, trail scanning, finding flow in technical terrain) and then take them to the trail. Practices will include technical corning and descending drills. Competition is not
required but this some riders will be racing downhill races and some practices will help with race prep
7 practices on weekdays and weekends. 6 2-hour practices (one free group ride session) at Beacon Hill and 1 4-hour practice at Silver Mountain.
Beacon Practice: 4pm-6pm: 9/8, *9/10(free day), 9/15, 9/22, 9/24, and 9/29
Silver Day: 10am-12pm: 9/13
Should be comfortable riding Blue and Black trails (some ride arounds ok) at
beacon hill such as these the trails:
*Pop-rocks
*Orc chases
*Cyrth Ungol
*Blast off
*Bomber
*Artificial High
*Hollywood
*Stalin grab
Full face helmet (required for DH races), Knee pads (highly recommended), and
Full-suspension trail or enduro style bike recommended. At least a half shell Helmet required.
Elbow Pads, gloves, back/chest protection are recommended but is up to rider preference.
Personal Go-Pro style POV camera can be helpful, especially for race practice days, but are not
required.
Practice skills used in gravity mountain biking such as cornering, rock rolls, jumps, and drops
Bike check/safety check (10 minutes): Make sure ready to ride
Warm up/skills assessment (15-30 minutes) : Pedal to top.
Skill review (0-30 minutes): If doing cornering/tech drills here
Sessioning (60-90 minutes): will ride a trail used in a past gravityraces
such as but not limited to:
Yard Sale, Quarantine, Rabid rabbit, Stalin grab, Pop-rocks, Cyrth ungol, Water wings,
Bevs Highway, Good Twin, Ghostly laughter, Scared Cat, Master Blaster, Canyon Blaster,
Commitment Issues, Bomber, Blast Off, Artificial High, Hollywood, Stalin Grab.
