
Dates: 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14- 5pm-7pm
Duration: 4 possible 2-hour rides. Riders can do all or one activity.
Audience: Blue-Black lever riders; Riders who have taken a beginner level course or have equivalent skills. These riders are interested in a gravity riding and want to improve their skills. Rides will have a few skills beginner/intermediate reviewed (roll downs, trail scanning, finding flow in technical terrain) as needed. The focus will be on trail riding to maintain smooth and controlled riding.
Pre-requisites: Should be comfortable riding Blue and some black trails (ride arounds ok) at beacon hill such as these the trails:
Pop-rocks
Orc Chaser
Stalin Grab
Hollywood
Quarantine
Considerations: Full face helmet, Knee pads, and Full-suspension trail or enduro style bike recommended. Helmet required.
Course purpose: The setting will be semi-formal lessons on cornering, breaking, drops and jumps.
Outline for 2-hour sessions:
Bike check/safety check (10 minutes): Make sure everyone is ready to ride.
Warm up/skills assessment (15 minutes) : Pedal up or ride parts of fire road down.
Skill practice (~45 minutes): Introduce and practice skill of the day. (Ex. breaking in corners and technical terrain)
Trail ride (~45 minutes): We will go on trail rides to apply the skills used that day:
